Description

This banana date smoothie is flavored with mastic gum, a unique and aromatic essence. This creamy, naturally sweet smoothie combines the richness of ripe bananas and the caramel-like sweetness of dates, creating a delightful blend that’s both nourishing and satisfying.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 ripe frozen banana
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • 2-3 Medjool Dates
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mastic Gum
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange blossom water (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place sugar and mastic gum droplets in the grinder.
  2. Grind sugar and mastic gum until the mixture turns into more powder.
  3. In a blender place bananas, milk, Medjool dates (remove pit), and mastic gum powder mixture.
  4. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.
  5. Once blended pour a few drops of Orange Blossom Water.
  6. Pour into a glass or mason jars, sprinkle on top chopped toasted almonds (optional), and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use Frozen Bananas: For a thicker and creamier smoothie, use frozen bananas. They not only add a nice texture but also make the smoothie colder without the need for ice cubes.
  • Boost the Protein: If you want to make your smoothie more filling, consider adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
  • Toasted Almonds: To toast almonds, place a handful of raw almonds under the broiler for 3-5 minutes, and stir them after 3 minutes to toast evenly, once cooled, chop with a sharp knife. Use about 1 teaspoon and keep the leftover in a jar in the fridge.
  • Soften Dates: If your blender is not high-speed, you can soften the dates by soaking them in hot water for 15 minutes.
