Fresh garbanzo beans roasted or fresh green chickpeas, known as hamleh in Palestine, are a healthy high-protein snack with a nutty flavor. This traditional Middle Eastern recipe is naturally vegan, plant based, and ready in less than 10 minutes.

- 1 pound green garbanzo beans (green chickpeas)
- 1-2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Wash well and rinse the garbanzo beans.
- Spread them evenly on a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle about 1-2 tablespoons of water over them along with salt.
- Place the baking sheet under the broiler and keep a close eye on them (5-10 minutes).
- Once they begin to brown, stir them with a wooden spoon a few times to ensure they roast evenly on all sides.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the hamleh cool for a few minutes before serving.
