Description
Date almond balls are a delicious and healthy snack, naturally sweetened with dates and packed with nutty goodness from almonds. They are perfect for a quick energy boost or a nutritious treat.
This quick recipe requires only four ingredients and can be made in just 10-15 minutes—a great snack for both kids and adults.
Ingredients
- 1 bag ajweh (dates paste) 13 oz or 15-20 Medjool dates
- 1/2 cup of quick oats
- 3/4 cup of chopped raw almonds
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ajweh (date paste), quick oats, chia seeds, and chopped almonds.
- Mix all the ingredients well with your hands until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency.
- Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls. If the mixture is too sticky, lightly rub your hands with olive oil.
- Repeat until all the mixture is rolled.
Notes
- If you used Medjool dates and they're too dry, soak them in warm water for 5-10 minutes, then drain before blending. This makes them softer and easier to mix.
- If the mixture is too sticky, add more nuts, seeds, to balance it out.
- If the mixture is too dry, add a little coconut oil, nut butter, or water to help bind it together.
- Lightly oil or wet your hands before rolling to prevent sticking.
- If the mixture is too soft to roll, chill it for 10 minutes before shaping.
- I prefer using quick oats instead of regular oats since this recipe doesn’t require baking or liquid, and the quick oats have a softer texture. I also highly recommend using organic oats, as conventional ones often contain glyphosate, a toxic pesticide used in herbicides.
