Ramadan Desserts

Whether you’re preparing a quiet family iftar or hosting one with friends, these Ramadan desserts recipes add the perfect touch of sweetness to enjoy after your meal — and yes, there’s always room for “just one more bite.”

1. Atayef Recipe

Atayef, or qatayef the special dessert that is typically made during Ramadan. Atayef is a simple yet delicious dessert. The combination of sweetness from the sugar syrup infused with orange blossom water, the crunch from the nuts, and the gooey texture from the melty cheese make this recipe a perfect dessert option to enjoy at the end of a fast day.

2. Palestinian Knafeh

Palestinian knafeh is considered the most traditional and the most iconic dessert perhaps not only in Palestine but also across the Middle East. Knafeh typically consists of shredded or finely ground dough mixed in ghee or melted butter, layered with stretchy cheese, baked then soaked in sugar syrup (ater).

3. Warbat Dessert

Warbat Dessert or Warbat Bil Ashta is an exquisite Middle Eastern dessert made with delicate layers of phyllo pastry dough filled with ashta, a luscious velvety rich cream, baked and drenched in sugar syrup.

4. Namoura Cake - AKA Harissa Dessert

Harissa is a delicious easy dessert made with semolina or farina flour, then covered with simple syrup once baked. The Arabic name harissa means mashed or crushed and refers to how the ingredients are mixed.

5. Zalabia Recipe

Zalabia recipe, also known as awameh, is a popular sweet treat, similar to donuts. The dough is made from a few simple ingredients, fried, then dunked in sugar syrup. Crunchy from the outside and soft from the inside, delicious and addictive.

6. Hilbeh (Fenugreek Cake)

Hilbeh (fenugreek cake) is a delicious, traditional Palestinian dessert made with farina (smeed), olive oil, and fenugreek seeds all mixed into a dough. After baking, it's drenched in a sweet, simple syrup creating a unique and flavorful treat.
